Overview: 

Outdoor Escapes & Designs, a premier landscape and outdoor living company, is hiring a skilled Landscape Installation Superintendent to join our team in the Murray/Salt Lake Valley, UT area.

We are searching for a highly experienced and results-driven Landscape Superintendent with a primary focus on the precise installation of high-end landscape construction projects. This role requires comprehensive expertise in all phases of both hardscape (including specialized water features and natural stone) and softscape elements. The ideal candidate must demonstrate expert proficiency in heavy equipment operation, possess a minimum of 10 years of verifiable experience in the landscape construction industry, and have a proven history of success in foreman/leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive Installation Management:

Hardscape Installation:
 
  • Expertly manage and participate in the construction and installation of all hardscape elements, including:
  • Custom Water Features (ponds, streams, waterfalls, fountains), ensuring proper grading, liner installation, plumbing, and pump systems.
  • Natural Stone elements (patios, walkways, veneer, walls, steps, and boulder placement), ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic alignment with design specifications.
  • Paver systems, concrete work, wood structures, and outdoor living spaces.
Softscape Installation: 
  • Direct all phases of softscape installation, including:
  • Fine and rough grading, soil preparation, and drainage systems.
  • Selection, handling, and placement of plant material (trees, shrubs, perennials) in accordance with horticultural best practices.
  • Installation of sod, seeding, and specialized turf applications.
  • Oversee the installation of ancillary systems like irrigation and low-voltage lighting.
Leadership & Operations:
  • Provide clear, hands-on leadership and supervision to multiple crews, foremen, and subcontractors on job sites.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain stringent quality control standards across all installation phases (hardscape and softscape).
Equipment & Technical Proficiency:
  • Operate, maintain, and manage a variety of heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, etc.) safely and skillfully for precision work, particularly for site grading and large material placement.
  • Accurately read and interpret complex landscape architecture plans, details, and site surveys to execute the design vision flawlessly.
Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforce and adhere to all job site safety protocols, company policies, and relevant building codes/regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and tool/equipment checks to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in high-end landscape construction installation.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role (Foreman or Superintendent).
  • Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of best practices for hardscape construction and softscape installation, specifically including water features and natural stone.
  • Equipment: Expert-level proficiency in the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment.
